seems that the only front where rafa can do anything(with lots of luck) is the UCL... he is not the man who will bring lfc the first premier league title...
what do you think will(or should) happen in the coming summer at liverpool?
i think they should buy diego(from sv werder bremen)
he is a great playmaker(lots of great passes to TORRES), with amazing skills and technique; accurate shots on goal from far or close range, pretty strong, do not tend to get injured, and above all he is only 23 years old!
this is the best opportunity to get him, since he announced he want to leave his team and move to a better league(with all due respect, the bundesliga is Bayern Munchen+17 teams).
It will be shame to see him signing in nasty clubs like real madrid, barca, or any italian shit.
even if im not a liverpool fan, I would like to see him next season in anfield!
Interesting post. (I'll excuse your opening line

)
Unless we spend big (and I'm talking £50m + ) and on raw quality for the first team than United will more than likely equal Liverpools league title record in the next few years (unless Chelsea save us

)
Personally I believe our first team is 3-4 players off being anywhere near the quality of that of Chelsea and Manchester United.
If Rafa's content on playing this new formation then we definitely need someone in Diego's mould - a genuine number 10, leading to Gerrard taking Kuyt or Babel's role or partnering Mascherano in front of the back four.
Our fullback position is our weakest, followed by wide players and finally somone to partner Mascherano.
Bluntly put - its more than £50m we need to improve this team - money we havent got - meaning we cant challenge for the title.
I think that Liverpool need to get the ownership sorted first so that everyone knows where they stand, then they can spend some money but i do think that we will equal Liverpool's 18 championships
Chelsea with their spending capability are going to build a squad this summer that on paper is the best in the league. Uniteds financial problems have been well documented, and i dont know what effect winning 1 maybe 2 trophies can have on that. Utd must bring in players of equal quality and potential as Chelsea this summer or risk falling behind.
We have quality players that have been in our squad for a while (VDS, Neville, Giggs, Scholes) who are walking towards their final seasons. Its all very well having potential stars in Nani and Anderson coming through, but we need to be able to call upon a large variety of quality. We had enough this season, but as is football these days, we need more for next.
2 titles in a row is a great achievement but I expect Chelsea to be really hungry for the league next year, especially if they manage to capture the CL this year. We know that is their primary aim, and once that ambition is fulfilled, they will turn their attention back to the league
i dont think there should be any changes in the back, as you can see, only 28 goals have been scored against liverpool in the premier league... the defence is excellent...
if next season they dont tie 13 times, and try to lose only to united at old trafford, i am sure they can take the next title.
just bring diego(22 m EURO, or something like that)
as for you abcdef, chelsea with all its supreme players, they are not going anywhere with an amateur manager like that, you know who im talking about... the only good thing he did in chelsea is reviving ballack and joe cole, and nothing more.
while watching chelsea playing under him, anyone who has some knowledge about football definitly feels that he has NO IDEA wtf he's doing... luckily he have ten kate(or w/e it is spelled) sitting beside him.
Welcome to pre-season and the usual Liverpool "Next year thread." Last season you finished third in the league, this season you finished fourth. You were still a fair way behind United and Chelsea. Personally, I don't think that Rafael Benitez will win the Premier League at Liverpool. His early season policy of leaving key players out is fine for the end of season champions league knockout stages, but the league is also over by then. Rafa needs to play his beat team for all 38 premier league games if he is gonna win the league, and I don't even think that this will be enough. Chelsea have been plagued by injuries and the African cup of nations, yet took the title down to the wire. If Liverpool were too lose their best two players, then they would be stuffed. Whereas United and Chelsea can afford to lose kwy players yet still keep on winning. Liverpool also cannot get enough from the "Big Four" matches to win the league. Remember all the hype about how Liverpool were gonna spoil the party and win at old Trafford? Manchester United 3-0 Liverpool says it all, and this season Liverpool didn't beat a top four side once. Personally I think Fergie will stay on at United till he has surpassed Liverpool's league titles, and then he may consider quitting.
(p.s. with Sammy Lee now at Anfield, will Rafa be able to "focus on the next game" whilst Sammy "takes the positives out of the last game and gets the lads back on the training ground."!)
If you take note of Grants record it is very impressive. With all their problems he revived Ballack, took Chelsea to within a hair of the title and led Chelsea to their first CL final, something not even the special one could do.
People take Grant lightly. He has only lost 2 games so far (maybe 3), when you bear in mind one of those was away to Utd in his first game in charge, then perhaps you can reconsider his achievement.
Everyone put Grant down as soon as he came in charge and noone has reevaluated his ability since. Sure he's no Moroniho but still....his record doesnt lie.
with such a team, any medium+ manager could do what grant did. grant inherited a team which has been built through 2 years under morinho. when you watch chelsea's games you can think its morinho on the lines... the style remained the same, the players didnt go anywhere, it is the same blue death machine which morinho has built.
many insidents which occured in chelsea's games throughout the season can lead to the point that avram is clueless, you just should watch chelsea's games of the season, you could cleary see he has no idea in any change he makes, any formation he comes up with, his hasty responses in important matches and ofcourse, the responses of his own players! only terry back-up him(he also backed-up mclaren with the national team of england

)
about everyone putting grant down? well his previous imagenary job at chelsea tells everything... grant managed to get to chelsea from reasons not related to football, skills, talent or anything like that. thats why everyone just, dislike him...
another thing:
its maybe only me thinking this way, but if morinho back in 2006/7 season didnt suffer from the terrifying injury sequence (of the 2 main GK, terry and others) i think he could easly get to CL and even prevent milan from taking the 7th title, since 2 lucky goals like that you cant score against chelsea...
well i dont like chelsea anytime roman is the boss, he is just disgusting...

yoyojuninho Wrote:with such a team, any medium+ manager could do what grant did.
Moroniho couldnt get to the champions league final
yoyojuninho Wrote:if morinho back in 2006/7 season didnt suffer from the terrifying injury sequence
Grant has been through and endured successfully the same injury sequence. Add to that the African nations cup, the aura of a team who had just lost the best manager they had ever had, the emotional problems of Lampards mum passing away, the media pressure on his head..... need i go on.... all Moroniho had to deal with was his injuries. Must be hard to deal with, when you have unlimited money.
Man u will be on 21 or more titles by 2015
