Tommy Burns loses cancer fight

Celtic legend Tommy Burns has died at the age of 51 after losing his long-running battle against cancer.
It's hard to put into words how bad I feel on hearing this news. The guy was a legend on and off the pitch.
My thoughts go to his family at this extremely difficult time.

It just goes to show how quickly the disease can take hold.

Absolutely terrible news.

Condolences go out to family and friends at this time.

RIP Tommy.

It was announced last month that Burns, 51, who was first diagnosed with skin cancer in 2006, was facing a new battle against the disease.

Former Scotland international Burns was an ex-manager of Celtic and had been a long-serving player with the Glasgow club.

He was also assistant to former Scotland managers Berti Vogts and Walter Smith.

Years Club App (Goals)
1975–1989 Celtic 352 (52)
1989–1994 Kilmarnock 151 (16)

Total 503 (68)

Great record for a midfielder, what makes it even more great was the fact his career started off as a midfielder.
