The Madeline thread
Just to show that our thoughts at Live footy are with the family. I cant even begin to understand the strength needed to get through something like this, my prayers are made in the hope that she is found safe and well!

True can you make this a sticky?

RE: The Madeline thread
i hope, like everyone, that she gets home safe and sound.

BUT...... i think sumone needs to say this

i may sound like an evil so and so, but does anyone else think this story has got out of hand in the press? the ITV news for example. i hate the ITV news with a passion, its nothing more than tabloid TV news, it has turned into the madeline mccann half hour. they spend 25minutes talkin about madeline, then an "and finally" story about 30 people killed in iraq. at least the BBC have kept things in perspective, there are other things going on in the world.

i would bet that ITV news's ratings have been pretty high, maybe as high as theyve ever been, since madeline went missing. just like the News Of The World have probably sold more papers than usual as they have had 20 page specials on this story. its a sad fact but stories like these really hit home and i think the tabloid press (both TV and print) have really made the most of it for their own personal gain, i may sound cynical, but does anyone really believe that a big news company give 2 f&*ks about that poor little girl?

another thing, they the MEDIAWATCH column on the football365 website made a very good point, about how the british media judge people to be guilty until proven otherwise-

football365 Wrote:Media To Handle Abduction Cases: Overworked Judicial System Grateful For Help

Mediawatch always thinks it's a positive thing that, when someone is interviewed by police over a heinous crime that may well be absolutely nothing to do with them, the British press splash their picture all over the front of the newspapers, interview anyone who has ever met them and all-round destroy their life. It's in the finest journalistic tradition of guilty until proven innocent, and even then probably guilty.

And let's be honest, sometimes the evidence speaks for itself. Just look at why the tabloids have decided Robert Murat is responsible for the disappearance of Maddy McCann:

'One-eyed Robert Murat, 33, was taken from the villa...' - The Sun.

'Murat, who has a glass eye...' - The Daily Mirror.

'He has a glass eye and wears dark glasses' - The Daily Express.

"He does look odd, because he has a glass eye" - A childhood friend, quoted in the Daily Mail.

You fetch the pitchforks, we'll light the torches.

and in my opinion this media hype hasnt helped find madeline. if anything it has put her at even more risk. if everyone knows her face, then it'll be more likely that she'll be spotted sumwhere, causing her kidnapper(s) (and this may sound horrible but) to maybe remove any chance of getting caught by killing her and dumping her.

i really dont mean to be such a misery, but i think sumone had to say it. i really hope that she gets home to her parents, i just think all this media hype hasnt helped. maybe if she was anyother nationality other than british, she might've been found by now. as the british media hype everything and wreck peoples lives innocent or guilty, without evidence.

(and so the backlash begins!)
