It's almost an impossible task. Ranger and Celtic fans can't seem to keep the sectarianism out of their football. Closing down the forum for a few weeks when ever things get out of hand maybe the only way to do it. If that doesn't work when it's back up and running, close it down again.

I don't envy whoever gets to be the mods on this forum, ( because you need two, one each from both sides of the divide) because it's been the same since I joined two years ago.

But you have to take in to account that if it is continuesly being closed down that some members mught not bother with it anymore and join another forum instead, now we don't want to loose regular members now do we.

What else can you really do. You can't ban people because they they just sign up under a different user name. Hopefully if it is closed down a few times people will get the message, nothing else has worked.

Plus I am surprised nobody has started a thread in the other leagues forum, especially about the Celtic/Ranger game

Someone started a Rangers thread in my section but has been kept calm, plus it was related to the UEFA Cup.

I have seen on other Boards where certain forums are restricted and you need a password to get on that forum. That puts the onus on the mods to deny the password to those who are considered abusive.

There are also Boards that have a newbie forum for new members and they can't post in the main forum until they have proven themselves. established members aren't allowed to post in the newbie forum either, but again the onus is on the mods to promote people to the main forum.

its a right big debate about this but i agree that you would have to handle it very well because if you were a rangers fan and a celtic fan was starting to get out of hand you would wont them banned and if you were a celtic fan you would want the same.
