RE: SPL turn down Gers request.
I'm not just saying this because it's Rangers as I know Celtic would probably do the same in Rangers position and I believe they did in 2003. But I don't think the fixtures should be changed. Clubs shouldnt have to change summer plans etc because of one team playing a couple of extra games.

If Rangers hadn't postponed games needing to save energy to get pumped 3-0 by Lyon and not taking care of their pitch they wouldn't be in as big a mess.

Yeah yeah fair play mate, i would be saying the same though if it was Celtic, they would deserve to get it extended a bit imo, if Celtic would of had the season Rangers would of had then id say the same mate, im not being bias at all Wink

If Celtic were in Europe doing well i would ve wanting them to do well, just like you was doing great in the champions league and was unlucky to go out imo.

Its a difficult situation, Impossible to solve. Everyones talking about Zenit postponing games but its totally different.
They are near the beginning of their campaign and your talking about a 7 hour flight to an away game in Russia!

That's the main point of the argument. European Leagues have been postponing matches and giving their clubs in Europe a break for years. How many times do European clubs get to play on a Friday night if they have a European match Tuesday or Wednesday.

I don't think either the Scottish FA or the English FA do enough to help their clubs in Europe. The English FA and the Scottish FA don't put the same priority on sucess in Europe that the other European leagues do.

There is also the matter of domestic cups, in Scotland and in England, there are two domestic cups in both leagues and there is a lot importance placed on the FA Cup in both Scotland and England. While in European leagues I believe there is only one domestic cup and most of the big clubs treat it like top English clubs treat the Carling Cup.

Course depending on how long the SFA's memory is they will remember sir David Murray criticising their decision to move one game for the Celtic UEFA cup final, Murray was questioning the integrity of the league and going off on one. Don't think this will have helped their cause.

Also the fact is Rangers have already been done favours in europe during the CL qualifications. I don't think there has been many cases where a club has so many games in hand and still wants the fixtures changed.

No doubt that is true. And if it was Celtic asking for help with the fixtures Murray and the Ranger supporters would be leading the opposition to it.

Some sort of clause should be put into the rules that allow for situations like this in the future. I think you should always want British clubs to do well in Europe no matter who support and the leagues should get behind their clubs when they reach the latter stages.

No there is doubt that Rangers are going to be at a disadvantage against the Russians in the uefa cup final if they have to play something like 7 games in 17 days. It doesn't help Scottish football if Rangers are too tired or banged up to represent you well.

RE: SPL turn down Gers request.
Yeah your right. I think both Rangers and Celtic have represented Scottish football well in the past few years. Each reaching the last 16 and with Rangers run in the uefa cup. So I don't think it will reflect too badly on Rangers if they lose the cup as getting there in itself was an achievement.

I also think Rangers wouldn't really stand a chance against a team like Zenit anyway (Although i said that about bremen and fiorentina) so at least they have an excuse ready!

Yeah thats exactly what everyone is saying, they won't have a chance.. but then again its football and they are both class teams, no one thought Rangers would go to Lyon and win 3-0 was it?

Also no one expected Celtic to beat Ac when they did for example.. but great performances from clubs like Celtic and Rangers can win them games just through grit and determination like they have both showed this season.

And Rangers will have to show even more if they can win, especially with nbot holding any games back.
