Roma v Man Utd
Well, I've just finished watching this match and I'm very happy with the result. The performance was just about the perfect away European performance. We provided a great rearguard action repelling most of what Roma had to offer, and when we had the ball in the final third we had the quality to create and take chances.
I felt Roma played almost like a qualityless Chelsea. They had a lot of positive territorial possession but were very static up the front and though they had good chances to make good chances (work that out) they wasted good positions.
With that in mind, the possession stat is relatively meaningless leaving Utd as definitely the better team on the night. The quality was there from Scholes, Ronaldo and Rooney, each of them instrumental in the goals. I backed Ronnie to shine on the big stage this year and he hasnt disappointed so far.
2-0 away from home, should be the tie done and dusted. Need to make sure we win at home too, just to push home that we are serious contenders for this Champions League, this season.
Well done lads.

RE: Roma v Man Utd
I think that it is a very good result for us, two away goals and a clean sheet. It was a bit of a nervy moment when Ronaldo didnt get back up after scoring his goal but he is fine. Lets hope that Vidic's injury isnt serious.
Overall, it was a fantastic team performance

RE: Roma v Man Utd
Great result, but thought the 2-0 flattered United a bit. Roma had some very good chances and would have had a couple of goals if not for their own wastefulness and and couple of great saves by Van der Sar.
The pace of the game was really strange to see. United seemed to stroll through the game, more intent on stopping Roma scoring and catching them on the break instead of attacking all out. But that is cautious tactical away strategy in Champions League games. It certainly worked to plan and Ferguson got the tactics right, but I am happier when we play a more up tempo game.
Thought Ferdinand play a great game, and Brown, Evra and O'Shea after he came in for Vidic got the job done. There were a couple of times when Roma were through to goal but either they missed the net or Van der Sar was there to bail us out. Rooney and Ronaldo did fine tonight, both scoring and getting back to defend, they were not as explosive as usually but Ferguson keep the reins on them a bit. Didn't think Scholes had one of his better games, gave the ball away to easily and too often.
But as I said great result 2-0 away from home, sets things up nicely for the return leg at Old Trafford. The only down side could be the injury to Vidic, hope it is not to serious. Looks like it will be Barcelona in the semis, that should be a great match up.

RE: Roma v Man Utd
Remember after the last world cup people said Ronaldo would never play in England again, that he was finished etc.
How peoples attitudes change!
He was a marked man after his part in the Roonay sending off.

RE: Roma v Man Utd
My favourite English teams Man U and I think Ronaldos the best player in Britain so I wasn't having a go.
